Six ideas for self care
Grounding Tips: Root Chakra
✨ Recently, I struggled with a serious illness and needed to give myself time to rest, recover and look after myself. Alongside my NHS treatments, the principles behind sound healing and chakras help me feel stronger, calmer and more grounded each day. I’d love to share a few of the ideas that helped me.
If your dealing with something right now, I’d start with just one new thing.
Sound healing works through frequency and vibration and the root chakra is a lovely place to begin looking.
It sits at the base of the spine and is known as the seat of safety, security and stability. Here are six ways that worked for me:
✨ 1. Ground with sound
Gentle sound vibrations help settle and steady the root chakra, easing the body and quieting the mind. A sound bath is a beautiful way to experience it, simply lying back and letting the sound do the work.
✨ 2. Feel the sound frequencies
The note C, is said to support a grounded, settled root chakra. I love sitting with it during my own practice and feeling the sound hum through the body.
✨ 3. Crystals to set intentions
Red Jasper, Hematite, Black Agate and Smoky Quartz are all associated with the root chakra, and they pair beautifully with sound healing. It great to set good intentions and feel the power of beautiful crystals, or wear them as jewellery to carry that intention through the day.
✨ 4. Speak affirmations
Words can be a quiet anchor: “I am secure, confident and grounded in this moment.” Said slowly, out loud or silently, it gives the mind somewhere steady to rest.
✨ 5. Know the chakra chart
The root chakra governs safety, security and stability, and it is the foundation the other six chakras build on. That makes it a lovely place to start whenever things feel wobbly. Knowing where each chakra sits and what it relates to makes it easier to see which kind of self care feels most needed.
✨ 6. Earthing in nature
It’s been found that direct skin contact with the ground lets the body absorb the stabilising frequencies of the earth, physically and energetically. I love to walk the dog, or simply sit in a park or the garden and it asks for nothing more than a few quiet minutes.
